What is a nanobot or nano machine?
No, it's not a new race of transformers, instead, it is the future or bio robotics. This is a moment in history in which science fiction lives in daily life. Each day are announced new technologies that until just yesterday where thought unreachable or distant. In this article we will learn what are the "nanobots" and which could be their posible applications.
The nanorobots or nanobots made their appear on the imagination of the people in the year of 1959, year in which the theoric physic Profesor Richard Feynman predict that one day would be posible to build machines so small, that they would be formed of just a thousands of athoms. Later, in the novel "Engines of Creation" of 1987 Eric Drexler describes nanorobot capable of destroying carcinogenic cells, to pick up free radicals or repair the damage suffered by the cells.
Moreover, literature and films have included these small robots from time to time to make us dream on how the future would be living with them.
But, does this technology really exists? can we really dream of a close future surrounded by these invisible machines?
This promises to be the next step of the human evolution technique. A revolution that could not be simply ignored. The uses are thousands, from curing diseases that were out of reach for the medice to the replace of the actual pharmaceutical drugs, like small guardians of our metabolism. But like all new technology, it can have wrong applications or be out of control.
¿Qué es un nanobot o nano maquina?
No es una nueva raza de Transformers, sino que es el futuro de la biorobótica. Este es un momento de la historia donde la ciencia ficción convive con la vida diaria. Cada día se anuncian tecnologías que hasta el día anterior parecían remotas e inalcanzables. En este artículo conoceremos qué son los Nanobots y cuales son sus posibles aplicaciones.
Los nanorobots o nanobots hicieron su estreno en el imaginario colectivo el año 1959, en que el físico teórico Richard Feynman predijo que un día sería posible construir máquinas tan diminutas que estarían formadas de sólo unos pocos miles de átomos. Posteriormente en la novela de 1987, “Engines of Creation”, Eric Drexler describe nanobots capaces de destruir células cancerígenas, recoger radicales libres o reparar el daño sufrido en los tejidos celulares.
De ahí en más, la literatura y el cine ha incluido estos pequeños robots a destajo para hacer fantasear a los hombres de cómo será el futuro conviviendo con ellos.
Pero, ¿realmente existe esta tecnología? ¿Realmente podemos soñar en un futuro cercano, rodeado de estas máquinas invisibles?
Esto promete ser el próximo paso en la evolución de la técnica humana. Una revolución que simplemente no va a pasar desapercibida. Utilidades son miles, que van desde curación de enfermedades antes fuera del alcance médico hasta reemplazo de los actuales fármacos, como pequeños guardianes de nuestro metabolismo. Pero como toda nueva tecnología, puede ser usada para fines no muy nobles o pueden salirse de control.
